Toronto's Waterfront
Busy and cosmopolitan as it may be, Toronto has a charming side to it as well - its waterfront. Located at the northwest shores of Lake Ontario, the city makes beautiful use of its ocean-feel marine spaces and welcomes with plenty of heartwarming views, relaxation spots and water activities. Toronto’s Island Park pictured frequently here is a short ferry ride away and gives you almost instant nature access in the city. Where else can you enjoy biking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, camping, bird watching and beach chilling in close proximity to a financial district’s skyscrapers? The park even has its very own city-centre airport so you can land directly from further destinations. Should you not feel in the mood to travel to the Island Park, Toronto’s city shores will not disappoint either with their own urban blend of small beaches and parks and those special aerial views from the CN Tower and rooftop bars.
Note to butterfly lovers: Toronto’s jumbo-sized Monarch butterflies fluttering through this photo set are famous not only for their dimensions and beauty but also for their migratory abilities - in winter they fly all the way south to Mexico. Now that’s some endurance!
