Copenhagen's Tivoli Christmas Market
It’s that time of year when cold air grips the outdoors but people’s hearts are aglow with warmth and tenderness. Mulled wine induced smiles and cheers fill Christmas markets, handcrafted goods tempt wallets and sparkling decorations bring out the photographer in all of us. In Europe it seems most of the attention goes to the Christmas markets of Germany and Austria which are no doubt extremely beautiful and well worth a visit. However there is one not so well-hidden gem in Denmark - the Christmas market of the Tivoli Gardens amusement park in Copenhagen. Exquisitely decorated in the smallest of details, this market features fun rides, deli snacks, high-end leather and knitted goods for sale, handmade jewellery and ornament stands, and it even has its own concert hall and art installations. You can warm up around any of the open fires or coal warmers, a welcome addition in the cold. Tourists and locals alike enjoy every corner of the park which has an impressive variety of sceneries and activities. It's a very merry Christmas in Tivoli, so go ahead and enjoy the rides!
