Schliersee
If there is one season where Bavaria truly shines, that would be autumn. Tender hills covered in vibrant hues sprawl around the crystal clear calm waters of picturesque lakes like Schliersee. Sun patched juicy meadows provide a welcome retreat and a tasty meal to the local cow varieties. Locals dressed in clothes warm enough to brace the chilly winds stroll along the lakes, hot beverage in hand, and enjoy the occasional sunny days that are becoming shorter and shorter as winter comes near. As I walked around the tiny cute town of Schliersee, I couldn't help but feel like I was somewhere else - Austria? Italy? The way the carefully designed spaces opened up to the water, the viewpoint arch, the mountains in the background, it all reminded of somewhere else. Even the ducks felt different as they flapped their wings with a regionally uncharacteristic social enthusiasm. Next time you plan your escapades give a Bavarian lake a try, it might surprise you.
