Kassandra hills
We Bulgarians frequent the Chalkidiki peninsula more than our own coast. As I drove through the hills of Kassandra this year, I realised I’d never seen this favourite Greek summer destination so green. Whether it was the hot season coming late this year or that I tend to go in late summer I don’t know but the result was a lush green landscape I hadn’t seen before. Even the olive tree leaves were a shade of deep green instead of the gentle pale colour dominating the fields in August and September. As soon as a colourful sunset started forming in the sky I headed for a quick off-road snap. There’s nothing like a Fuji camera to capture the sunset colours so smoothly (and frustrate you to the end of the peninsula and back with its sensor’s foliage detail pickiness). If it weren’t for the kilometric border queues, I’d be crusing those hills every weekend!
